The maker community is a growing market, largely propelled by the COVID-19 pandemic and the increasing accessibility of tools like 3D printing. As more people seek creative outlets and entrepreneurial opportunities, the demand for DIY solutions has surged. This trend is expected to continue, driven by a combination of technological innovation and changing societal norms, presenting significant opportunities for growth and innovation within the maker market.

Many individuals utilize 3D printers and rely on shop vacuums to clean up plastic dust generated during sanding.

Users expressed dissatisfaction with the storage and organization of attachments, indicating a need for improved accessibility and convenience.

Several users mentioned forgetting to remove the filter before vacuuming liquids, suggesting a need for clearer instructions or design features to prevent this oversight.

Emptying the dust into a trash can often required users to lift the entire shop vacuum, indicating potential usability and convenience improvements in the emptying process.

At the start of 2023, the rise of AI-generated imagery captured my attention. As an early adopter of tech, I was eager to explore how AI could streamline and enhance my workflow. Using tools like ChatGPT and Midjourney, I delved into the manufacturing process of a Ridgid Shop Vacuum and drew inspiration from generated images to further ideate on the form.
